NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, January 31st (All times eastern)

Golden State Warriors (21-24) at Atlanta Hawks (16-27), 7 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Atlanta Hawks resume a four-game homestand this evening when they host the Golden State Warriors at Philips Arena.

Atlanta is 1-1 so far on the homestand and has won three of its last four games, including Monday's 93-83 win over the Orlando Magic. Joe Johnson scored 11 of his game-high 34 points during a big fourth-quarter run to lead Atlanta.

Josh Smith added 19 points and 12 rebounds for Atlanta, which used an 18-4 burst in the final period to build a 20-point cushion. Tyronn Lue tallied 13 points and seven assists and Marvin Williams had 12 points for the Hawks.

The Hawks are 8-12 at Philips Arena this season and will close out the homestand versus Toronto on Friday.

Golden State, meanwhile, had a two-game winning streak come to an end with Tuesday's 124-97 loss to the LeBron James-less Cleveland Cavaliers in the opener of a six-game road trip. James was out with a sore big toe.

Baron Davis totaled 21 points and eight assists and Al Harrington added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Warriors, who have lost five in a row on the road and are 4-16 away from Oakland this season.

The Warriors, who are 15 games off the lead in the Pacific standings, will also visit Philadelphia, Charlotte, Indiana and Minnesota on the current swing.

Wednesday's showdown between Golden State and Atlanta is the first of two meetings this season. Both teams split a pair of matchups last season, but Golden State has won seven of the last eight in the series.

The Warriors have won three of their last four at Atlanta.
