Boston Celtics (10-16) at Los Angeles Clippers (11-16), 10:30 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Boston Celtics play the second of a five-game road trip when they visit the Los Angeles Clippers tonight at the Staples Center.
This is the first of two meetings between the clubs this season. The Celtics are scheduled to host the Clippers on February 2, 2007 at the TD Banknorth Garden.
Boston has won two straight and five of its last six at the Clippers. These teams have split the last six contests in this series.
The Celtics fell in the opener of the swing. On Tuesday, Allen Iverson poured in 28 points and dished out 13 assists to lead the Nuggets past Boston, 116-105, at the Pepsi Center.
Tony Allen and Gerald Green both netted 18 in the loss to Denver for the Celtics, who have dropped three in a row after winning five straight games. Al Jefferson had 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, while rookie Allan Ray contributed 12 points off the bench in defeat.
Boston is 6-6 on the road this season. The Celtics will also visit Golden State, Seattle and Portland on the swing.
Los Angeles will try and bounce back from a loss as it opens a three-game homestand this evening. Carlos Boozer posted 26 points and 10 rebounds, as the surprising Utah Jazz downed the disappointing Clippers, 102-92, on Tuesday at EnergySolutions Arena.
Elton Brand scored 21 points and grabbed seven boards in the loss to Utah for the Clippers, who have dropped seven of their last eight games overall. Corey Maggette had 19 points, while Cuttino Mobley and Chris Kaman both added 13.
On the injury front for the Clippers, veteran guard Sam Cassell (plantar fasciitis in left foot) is doubtful for tonight's contest. He did not play against Utah and has missed four games this season. Cassell is averaging 13.3 points and 4.6 assists per game.
The Clippers, who are scheduled to host Sacramento on Friday and New York on Sunday, are 9-6 at home this season.
