NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Sunday, January 28th (All times eastern)

San Antonio Spurs (31-14) at Los Angeles Lakers (27-16), 3:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The San Antonio Spurs will begin an eight-game road trip today when they pay a visit to the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center.

San Antonio has won four of its last five games, including Friday's 112-96 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies at the AT&T Center. Tim Duncan posted 26 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high nine blocks in the win.

Tony Parker contributed 18 points and eight assists, while Manu Ginobili added 17 points for the Spurs, who will try to improve on their 15-6 road record this season.

The Spurs will also visit Utah, Phoenix, Washington, Orlando, Miami, New Jersey and Detroit.

Meanwhile, the Lakers will wrap up a three-game homestand and have lost three of their last four games.

On Friday Los Angeles suffered a 106-97 overtime loss to the Charlotte Bobcats at the Staples Center. Kobe Bryant netted 32 points, pulled down six rebounds and dished out five assists for the Lakers, and became the fastest player in NBA history to score 18,000 points. He accomplished the feat at 28 years of age and in 156 days, topping Wilt Chamberlain's mark in 166 days.

Smush Parker scored 12 points and Andrew Bynum recorded a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds for Los Angeles, which trails Phoenix in the Pacific standings and owns a 19-5 home mark this season.

Lamar Odom made his return for LA after missing 21 games because of a sprained MCL in his right knee. Odom finished with 12 points in 43:20 of action. Lakers forward Luke Walton (sprained right ankle) is doubtful for Sunday's game.

Sunday's game between San Antonio and the Lakers is the third and final meeting in the regular season. Los Angeles has won the first two contests this season and three of the last four meetings with the Spurs.

San Antonio has won seven of nine and eight of its last 12 at the Lakers.
