(Sports Network) - The Dallas Mavericks will try and get back on the winning track tonight when they host the Sacramento Kings at American Airlines Center.
The Southeast Division-leading Mavericks had their eight-game winning streak come to an end with Thursday's 96-85 loss to the Chicago Bulls at the United Center in the finale of a three-game road trip.
Dirk Nowitzki poured in 28 points on 7-of-22 shooting and pulled down 11 rebounds, while Jerry Stackhouse netted 16 points for the Mavericks, who lost for just the second time in 23 games. The Mavs went 2-1 on the recent trip.
Dallas, which has won 12 in a row at home, will open a two-game homestand on Saturday and is 19-3 as the host this season.
Meanwhile, the Kings had a two-game winning streak broken with Friday's 88-84 loss to the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets in the opener of a four-game road trip at New Orleans Arena.
Mike Bibby and Kevin Martin scored 21 points apiece and John Salmons donated 14 for the Kings, who are 5-13 on the road this season and basement dwellers in the Pacific Division.
The Kings will also visit Memphis and Minnesota on their trek.
Saturday's matchup between Dallas and Sacramento is the third of four meetings this season. The Mavs have won the first two meetings this season, three straight overall and eight of the last 10 encounters.
Sacramento has lost six straight after winning its last two at Dallas.
