Phoenix Suns (14-6) at Miami Heat (9-11), 7 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Phoenix Suns attempt to extend their winning streak to 12 games when they visit the defending world champion Miami Heat tonight at AmericanAirlines Arena.
Amare Stoudemire scored 30 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Suns to their 11th straight win, a 103-89 rout of the Orlando Magic on Monday at TD Waterhouse Centre.Stoudemire scored 10 points in the third quarter to lead Phoenix to victory for the 13th time in its last 14 games after a 1-5 start.
All-Star forward Shawn Marion scored 19 and grabbed 11 boards in the win over the Magic for Phoenix. Reigning MVP Steve Nash scored 18 and dished out 15 assists, while Boris Diaw netted 13 in the victory.
Phoenix won a franchise-record 14 in a row from December 1, 1992 to December 30, 1992.
The Suns, who have won six in a row as the visitor, are 6-4 on the road this season. They return home to host the Golden State Warriors on Friday at US Airways Center.
The Heat close out a brief two-game homestand this evening. Dwyane Wade poured in a season-high 37 points as Miami dominated the Toronto Raptors, 99-77, on Monday at AmericanAirlines Arena.
Wade finished 13-of-21 from the floor and went 11-of-13 from the charity stripe, while Alonzo Mourning and James Posey both contributed 12 points in the victory over the Raptors for Miami, which has won two of its last three games overall.
The Heat are expected to be without Wade (wisdom teeth) for tonight's contest.
Miami is 4-6 at home this season. It will visit Gilbert Arenas and the Washington Wizards on Friday at the Verizon Center.
This is the first of two meetings this season between the Suns and Miami. Phoenix is scheduled to host the Heat on January 5, 2007 at US Airways Center.
The Suns are 12-6 at Miami. Phoenix has won two in a row in this series.
