NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Tuesday, February 21st (All times eastern)

Toronto Raptors (20-33) at Memphis Grizzlies (29-23), 8 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Memphis Grizzlies take aim at their fourth straight win this evening when they wrap up a brief two-game homestand versus the Toronto Raptors at the FedExForum.

On Wednesday, Pau Gasol had 24 points to lead Memphis to an 84-78 victory over the Sacramento Kings. Chucky Atkins added 17 points and Eddie Jones had 13 points and seven rebounds for the Grizzlies, who had lost five in a row prior to their winning streak.

Shane Battier gave Memphis the lead for good, 80-78, with a three-pointer with 4:34 remaining, but neither team scored again until there were 13.9 seconds left.

Kenny Thomas had a chance to tie the game with 21 seconds left, but dribbled the ball off his foot under the basket. Jones then hit two free throws, and Ron Artest and Mike Bibby both missed three-point attempts in the closing seconds.

Atkins, who had blocked a Bibby shot with 53 seconds left, hit two foul shots for the final margin.

Battier finished with 10 points, as the Grizzlies shot 44.6 percent.

Memphis, which will visit Dallas on Thursday, is 16-8 in its arena this season.

Toronto, meanwhile, comes in on a sour note after falling to the hapless New York Knicks, 98-96, on Wednesday at Madison Square Garden. Chris Bosh had 25 points and seven boards for the Raptors, who had a three- game winning streak come to a halt.

Mike James was clutch down the stretch for the Raptors, scoring six of the team's final nine points, but his three-point try as time expired was off the mark.

Toronto, which is in the midst of a five-game road trip, is 10-17 away from home this season.

Memphis defeated the Raptors earlier in the season and has won six straight and seven of the last eight meetings. Toronto, though, has dropped five of eight as the road team in this series.
