NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Monday, January 30th (All times eastern)

New York Knicks (14-28) at Atlanta Hawks (11-31), 7 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The New York Knicks try to get back on the winning track this evening when they conclude a brief two-game road trip against the Atlanta Hawks at Philips Arena.

The Knicks failed to follow up Wednesday's win over Sacramento on Saturday, as they suffered a loss at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers, 91-76, at the Wachovia Center.

Qyntel Woods tallied a career-high 24 points and pulled down eight boards for New York, who lost for the seventh time in their past eight outings. Stephon Marbury added 14 points, six rebounds and eight assists in the loss.

Woods, whose minutes have increased since Antonio Davis was suspended for going into the stands in Chicago, is averaging 6.6 points on the season but averaged 15.0 points and 7.8 rebounds over his last four games.

Davis, meanwhile, is eligible to return tonight.

The Knicks, who will host Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, have lost three in a row on the road and are 4-16 away from home this season.

Atlanta also enters on a losing note after falling to the Chicago Bulls, 111-99, on Saturday at the United Center.

Joe Johnson had a career-high 40 points and Zaza Pachulia added 13 along with nine rebounds for the struggling Hawks, who have lost three straight and five of their last six games.

Atlanta, which will be playing at home for the eighth time in its last nine games, is 8-14 in its arena this season. The Hawks, though, average seven more points at home (98.3) than on the road (91.4).

New York has split its two matchups with the Hawks this season and has won eight of 10 and 10 of the last 13 meetings. The Knicks have also won four of six and five of eight in Atlanta.
