NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Sunday, January 22nd (All times eastern)

Houston Rockets (13-25) at Detroit Pistons (32-5), 6 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The NBA-best Detroit Pistons attempt to extend their winning streak to seven games tonight, as they welcome the Houston Rockets to The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Richard Hamilton poured in 26 points and Rasheed Wallace netted 23, as Detroit posted an easy 105-79 win over the New York Knicks on Thursday at Madison Square Garden.

Tayshaun Prince finished with 18 points and Carlos Delfino netted 11 in the win over New York for the Pistons, who have won six straight and 17 of their last 19 contests overall.

Point guard Chauncey Billups had only two points, but dished out 13 assists in the victory for Detroit, which made 12-of-25 from beyond the arc.

The Pistons are 16-2 at home this season. They have won two in a row and 12 of their last 13 at The Palace.

Houston plays the middle contest of a three-game road trip. On Friday, Tracy McGrady returned to the lineup after missing five games with back spasms and poured in 35 points while grabbing nine rebounds, as the Rockets defeated the Chicago Bulls, 109-108, in a double-overtime thriller at the United Center.

Juwan Howard added a season-high 30 points and grabbed seven boards in the win over Chicago for the Rockets, who halted a seven-game losing streak. David Wesley netted 17 points and Chuck Hayes added 12 points and 13 rebounds in the victory.

The Rockets, who will visit Michael Redd and the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday at the Bradley Center, are 10-12 on the road this season.

This is the second and final meeting of the season between the clubs. On November 18th, Hamilton ended with 19 points as Detroit knocked off the Rockets, 78-70, at the Toyota Center.

The home team has won six of the last nine meetings in this series, while the Pistons have won four straight contests. Houston has lost four in a row and eight of its last nine at Detroit.
