NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, March 29th (All times eastern)

Dallas Mavericks (54-17) at Cleveland Cavaliers (41-29), 7 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Cleveland Cavaliers will try to extend their five-game winning streak tonight when they host the Dallas Mavericks at Quicken Loans Arena.

The Cavaliers can clinch their first postseason spot since 1998 with a win tonight or one more Chicago Bulls loss.

On Sunday, the Cavs posted a 104-102 overtime against Houston at the Toyota Center, thanks to LeBron James' game-high 36 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 21 points and eight rebounds and Damon Jones added 22 points and six assists for the Cavaliers. Donyell Marshall added 12 points for Cleveland, which is fourth in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Cleveland has won six in a row and is 26-10 at home this season.

The Mavericks, meanwhile, have alternated wins and losses in their last six games and just suffered a 97-90 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.

The Pistons got revenge after being blown out in Dallas, 119-82, on November 19 this season.

Dirk Nowitzki and Jerry Stackhouse each scored 25 points for the Mavericks, who have lost three of their last five games. Nowitzki also grabbed 11 boards and Keith Van Horn added 18 points off the bench.

The loss dropped Dallas out of a tie for first place in the Southwest Division and Western Conference with the Spurs, who defeated the LA Clippers on Tuesday. The Mavericks, though, still have a commanding lead for the fourth spot in the Western Conference.

Dallas has won nine of the last 10 meetings with Cleveland and 12 of 21.

The Mavs, though, have dropped six of their last nine trips to Cleveland.
