NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, December 14th (All times eastern)

Sacramento Kings (10-12) at Detroit Pistons (15-3), 7:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Detroit Pistons try to bounce back from just their third loss of the season this evening when they begin a brief two-game homestand against the Sacramento Kings at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

The Pistons fell for the first time in December on Monday, as they dropped a 92-78 decision to the Utah Jazz at the Delta Center.

Richard Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace each had 16 points for Detroit, which was outscored 29-12 in the fourth quarter and shot 38.2 percent from the field for the game. Detroit blew a 13-point halftime lead.

A Hamilton three-pointer put the Pistons ahead 70-67 with 10:05 remaining, but the Jazz locked down defensively and responded with a 15-2 spurt. Mehmet Okur's three-pointer gave Utah the lead for good at 75-72 with 8:03 remaining, and Andrei Kirilenko's layup with 5:39 left made it 82-72.

Detroit couldn't get closer than eight points after that.

The Pistons, who will close the stand against Chicago on Friday, are 5-1 in their building this season.

Sacramento, meanwhile, has won three in a row after Bonzi Wells buried a three-point shot at the buzzer to lift the Kings to a 93-91 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday at the Target Center.

Wells finished with a team-high 20 points to pace a balanced Sacramento attack. Shareef Abdur-Rahim added 19 points while Mike Bibby had 17 and Peja Stojakovic finished with 14 for the Kings.

The Kings, who are in the midst of a four-game road trip, are 3-5 away from home this season.

Detroit defeated Sacramento earlier in the season and has won two straight in the series. The Kings, though, have had success in the Motor City, where they have won four of six and five of nine.
