NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Sunday, March 12th (All times eastern)

Houston Rockets (29-33) at San Antonio Spurs (48-14), 3:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The streaking Houston Rockets go for their fifth straight victory this afternoon, as they visit the San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center.

San Antonio has won the last 16 meetings at home in this series. The Rockets, who last won in San Antonio back on March 11, 1997, have also dropped 10 of 12 and 14 of the last 17 overall in this matchup.

This is the second meeting of the season between the clubs. On November 17th, Tim Duncan poured in 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead San Antonio to an 86-80 home victory over the Rockets.

Yao Ming scored a season-high 38 points and collected 10 rebounds to help Houston rally from 17 points down to upend the Indiana Pacers, 103-99, on Wednesday at the Toyota Center.

Tracy McGrady left Wednesday's game early in the third quarter with back pain and did not return for the Rockets. He finished with 15 points. Juwan Howard netted 16 points, while Keith Bogans tallied 14 points and eight rebounds in the win over the Pacers for the Rockets, who have won four in a row and 10 of their last 13 contests overall.

McGrady could be sidelined for up to five weeks because of the back injury, and has already missed 15 games this season. The All-Star forward is averaging a team-best 24.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists.

The Rockets are 16-15 as the visitor this season. They have won two in a row and five of their last six on the road.

San Antonio plays the second of a four-game homestand. On Friday, Kobe Bryant had 29 points as the Los Angeles Lakers handed the Spurs a 100-92 loss at the AT&T Center.

Mike Finley and Brent Barry each netted 16 and Manu Ginobili added 13 points and six assists in the loss to the Lakers for the Spurs, who have dropped two of their last three contests overall.

The Spurs, who will also host New Orleans/Oklahoma City and Phoenix on the current stand, are 26-4 at home this season.

Houston is scheduled to host the Spurs on March 18th and April 19th at the Toyota Center in the final two contest of the campaign between the clubs.
