Miami Heat (10-7) at Los Angeles Clippers (11-5), 10:30 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Miami Heat play the fourth contest of a five-game road trip, as they visit the Los Angeles Clippers tonight at the Staples Center.
The Clippers, who play the second contest of a five-game homestand, are 6-1 as the host this season. This is the franchise's best start since winning nine of their first 10 home games during the 1974-75 campaign, when they were known as the Buffalo Braves.
On Saturday, Elton Brand poured in 30 points and grabbed nine rebounds, as the Clippers defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers, 102-90, at the Staples Center. These teams played for the second time in three days, as Cleveland had posted a 112-105 overtime win at Quicken Loans Arena.
Corey Maggette had 24 points and Chris Kaman contributed 12 points and a career-high 19 rebounds in the win over Cleveland for the Clippers, who have won two of their last three games overall. Cuttino Mobley added 11 points in the victory.
The Clippers will also host New York, Phoenix and Detroit on the current homestand.
The Heat are 2-1 on the current swing. They will wrap up the road trip on Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs.
Miami suffered a tough loss on Saturday. Carmelo Anthony scored 23 points and Earl Boykins hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 17 seconds remaining, as the Denver Nuggets edged the Heat, 101-99, at the Pepsi Center.
All-Star Dwyane Wade tallied 32 points, six rebounds and six assists in the loss to Denver for the Heat, who had their three-game winning streak halted. Antoine Walker had 20 points and seven rebounds for Miami, while Gary Payton added 17 points and Jason Williams scored 11.
The Heat are 3-5 on the road this season.
This is the first of two meetings between the clubs this season. Miami is scheduled to host the Clippers on January 30, 2005 at AmericanAirlnes Arena.
Miami has won three of the last four meetings in this series. The Heat have won five of eight and eight of their last 12 at the Clippers.
