NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, March 1st (All times eastern)

New York Knicks (15-41) at Memphis Grizzlies (31-26), 8 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Memphis Grizzlies will try to start the month of March better than they did February tonight when the New York Knicks pay a visit to FedEx Forum.

Memphis, which opened February with five straight losses, ended the month with a 108-98 win over the Washington Wizards on Monday.

Pau Gasol recorded a career-high 39 points and grabbed 10 boards for the Grizzlies, who put the brakes on a three-game losing streak.

After Tuesday's home game against New York, the Grizzlies will open a four- game road trip before returning home to host six consecutive games.

Memphis has won three of its last four home games and is 18-9 at FedEx Forum this season.

It just keeps getting worse for the Knicks, who have lost four in a row, 14 of 15 and 20 of their last 22 games. Seven of those losses have been by 20 points or more.

Head coach Larry Brown couldn't have imagined a worse season and the addition of new guard Steve Francis has produced zero wins. The Knicks are 0-3 since acquiring Francis from Orlando last week.

In New York's last game on Monday versus the San Antonio Spurs, Quentin Richardson scored 14 points, Eddy Curry posted 13 and Francis finished with 12 points, as the Knicks suffered a 121-93 setback at the AT&T Center. They were down 34 points at one point in the third quarter.

The Knicks, who have lost 11 straight on the road, will conclude a three-game road trip in Memphis. New York is an NBA-worst 4-24 on the road this season.

A loss Wednesday night to the Grizzlies would assure the Knicks of their fourth straight losing season -- the longest such streak since the late '80s.

This is the first of two meetings between the Knicks and Grizzlies this season. After Wednesday's tilt, both squads will then meet at Madison Square Garden on March 24.

The Grizzlies have won two of the past three meetings, but New York has posted wins in six of its last eight trips to Memphis.
