(Sports Network) - The Memphis Grizzlies face a stern test today as they try to extend their three-game winning streak against the Phoenix Suns at FedExForum.
The Suns enter the day second in the Western Conference -- 1 1/2 games behind the San Antonio Spurs atop the race. The Grizzlies are seventh in the standings, within one game of sixth-place Houston.
On Friday, Jason Williams scored 17 points to lead the Grizzlies to an 88-83 home win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Bonzi Wells and Lorenzen Wright added 16 points apiece for the Grizzlies, who have won four of their last five games. Mike Miller poured in 14 points and James Posey had 12 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.
The Grizzlies hold a 3 1/2 game advantage over eighth-place Denver in the Western Conference.
Williams and Wells both returned from injuries, but the team remained without leading scorer Pau Gasol and forward Stromile Swift. Gasol remains on the injured list, while Swift is doubtful for today.
The Grizzlies will visit New Jersey on Thursday.
Phoenix, meanwhile, has lost two of its last three on the heels of a four-game winning streak. On Friday the Suns dropped a 110-100 contest to visiting Golden State. Baron Davis scored a game-high 33 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Warriors.
Amare Stoudemire had 31 points and 10 rebounds for the Suns. Shawn Marion added 28 points and 17 boards, as Phoenix lost for only the ninth time in 32 home games this season.
Today's clash begins a five-game road trip for the Suns, who are 25-7 on the road. They will visit Atlanta on Tuesday.
Memphis is 2-1 against Phoenix this season, and has won four of the last six meetings overall.
The Suns have lost their last three road games in the series.
