NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, March 9th (All times eastern)

New Jersey Nets (26-35) at New Orleans Hornets (13-46), 8 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The New Jersey Nets try to snap a three-game losing skid tonight when they visit the Hornets at New Orleans Arena.

Since a winning streak of the same span, the Nets have fallen to Miami, Orlando and San Antonio. On Tuesday they dropped a 90-74 contest at the Spurs.

Nenad Krstic paced the Nets with 19 points. Jason Kidd added 14 points, but struggled from the field, going 5-of-15 as New Jersey lost for the fifth time in eight games.

Vince Carter finished with 13 points on horrid 4-for-18 shooting.

The Nets set the tone early by scoring a meager 12 points in the first quarter. The struggles continued and New Jersey finished the night shooting 32 percent from the floor, including a 3-for-14 mark from beyond the arc.

New Jersey enters Wednesday's action fourth in the Atlantic Division standings, 5 1/2 games off the pace of the Boston Celtics. The Nets also have Philadelphia and New York to leap over as well, and Toronto is only 1/2 game behind them.

The Nets opened a four-game road trip Tuesday and will visit Miami on Saturday.

New Orleans, meanwhile, had a two-game winning streak snapped in Sunday's 95-84 loss to visiting Toronto. Chris Bosh scored a career-high 33 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the Raptors.

Lee Nailon had 18 points to lead the Hornets, who lost for the fifth time in seven games. New Orleans was cold from the field, shooting just 39 percent, including 4-of-19 from behind the arc. Bostjan Nachbar added 15 points while Chris Andersen chipped in 12 points and nine caroms in the loss.

The Hornets, who have lost four of their last six home games, will play the fourth installment of a five-game homestand tonight. They'll welcome Milwaukee to town on Saturday.

New Jersey defeated New Orleans, 94-91, in overtime on December 10 at the Meadowlands for its third straight series win.

The Nets have won in two of their last three road games against the Hornets.
