Denver Nuggets (17-22) at Dallas Mavericks (26-12), 1 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Dallas Mavericks take aim at their fifth consecutive victory this afternoon, when they take the court against the Denver Nuggets at AmericanAirlines Center.
Dallas continued its winning ways on Friday night, defeating expansion Charlotte, 105-99, in Charlotte. Dirk Nowitzki and Michael Finley each scored 20 points to pace the Mavs to the win. The Mavericks have now won nine of their last 11 games.
Jason Terry tallied 17 points while Jerry Stackhouse contributed 19 off the bench for Dallas. The Mavericks have improved to 11-5 on the road, the second- best mark in the NBA.
Meanwhile, Dallas, which is playing its lone home game in four contests tonight, is 15-7 at AmericanAirlines Center. Dallas has won eight of nine and 10 of its last 14 home games.
Josh Howard registered 11 points and six rebounds in the victory. Dallas hit 48.1 percent from the field, including 4-of-15 (.267) from three-point range. The Mavericks hit 25-of-31 (.806) from the free throw line, outscoring Charlotte, 25-11, at the charity stripe.
Dallas was outrebounded, 47-37, in the contest, but committed only eight turnovers to 10 for the Bobcats.
Denver has won its last two games, including a 92-82 victory over Memphis at the Pepsi Center on Friday night. Earl Boykins continued to stand tall as the league's smallest player scored a team-high 25 points to lead the Nuggets to the win. Coming off the bench, the 5-foot-5 Boykins hit 10-of-13 field goal attempts and handed out a season-high 10 assists for Denver,
Marcus Camby added 18 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks for the Nuggets, who were without the services of Carmelo Anthony and Nene.
Anthony was sidelined with a sprained right ankle, while Nene was serving the third game of his four-game suspension for his involvement with an on-court fight with Minnesota's Michael Olowokandi on January 17. Anthony is listed as questionable for today's contest.
Andre Miller chipped in with 14 points, six assists and five rebounds, while Kenyon Martin contributed 13 points and eight rebounds for the Nuggets.
Denver, which is beginning a three-game road trip tonight, has lost eight of nine and 10 of its last 12 road games. The Nuggets have posted a 5-13 mark in foreign buildings this season.
These teams have split a pair of meetings this season, both in Denver. The Mavericks have won 11 of 14, 17 of 21 and 19 of the last 24 meetings overall, including 13 of their last 14 at home.
