(Sports Network) - The Memphis Grizzlies seek their third consecutive win tonight when they welcome the Portland Trail Blazers to FedEx Forum.
On Wednesday, Dahntay Jones finished with a career-high 23 points to help lead the Grizzlies to a 98-95 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wachovia Center.
Stromile Swift netted 17 points for the Grizzlies, who have won seven of their last nine contests. Lorenzen Wright and Bonzi Wells added 12 points apiece in the victory.
The Grizzlies had to hold on at the end of the contest, as Philadelphia's Kyle Korver missed a three-pointer at the buzzer that would have forced overtime.
Jones has been key as of late, starting the last four games because of injuries to forwards Pau Gasol and James Posey. Jones is averaging 14.8 points in those games, and Wednesday's effort marked a career high in points.
Memphis, which is currently tied with Houston for sixth in the Western Conference standings, has won six of its last seven at home. The Grizzlies will open a three-game road trip Sunday in Indiana.
Portland, meanwhile, had a three-game winning streak snapped in Wednesday's 91-80 loss to New Orleans. Five Hornet players registered in double figures to burn the Trail Blazers.
Damon Stoudamire poured in a game-high 30 points and Darius Miles added 15 for the Trail Blazers, who have won . Ruben Patterson netted six points before being ejected in the second quarter after he kicked the ball into the stands.
The Blazers enter Friday's action 12th in the Western Conference -- 4 1/2 games behind the No. 8 LA Lakers.
Portland, which has lost five straight on the road, will begin a four-game road trip this evening. The Blazers will visit Houston on Sunday.
Memphis defeated Portland, 101-82, on November 17 at the Rose Garden, and has won three of the last four meetings.
