(Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Clippers go for their third straight victory, as they welcome the Portland Trail Blazers tonight to the Staples Center.
This is the second meeting of the season between the clubs. On November 5th, the Blazers knocked off the Clippers, 94-81, at the Rose Garden. Overall, the home team has won seven straight and 15 of the last 17 contests in this series. Portland has lost three straight and six of its last eight at the Clippers.
On Monday, the Clippers tallied a 102-98 victory over the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center. Corey Maggette scored 33 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to pace the Clippers to the win.
Elton Brand finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds in Monday's win for the Clippers, who used a 14-4 run late in the fourth quarter to key the victory. Rick Brunson added 18 points for Los Angeles, which has won three of its last four overall.
Maggette has scored in double-digits in 16 straight games and has registered four double-doubles this season. He is averaging a team-high 21.9 points per game.
The Clippers are 10-8 as the host this season.
The Trail Blazers found themselves on the wrong end of a 117-98 decision on Sunday, as Amare Stoudemire ripped off 50 points to pace the Phoenix Suns to the victory.
Portland was led by Darius Miles' 25 points in the loss to Phoenix. Zach Randolph added 22 points and 14 rebounds and Shareef Abdur-Rahim had 14 points and 10 boards for the Blazers, who have lost three of their last four.
Randolph has 16 double-doubles and has scored in double-digits in all 28 games he has played in this season. He leads Portland in scoring (20.5 ppg) and rebounding (10.7 rpg).
The Blazers are 6-10 on the road this season.
