San Antonio Spurs (11-3) at Dallas Mavericks (10-5), 8:30 p.m.
(Sports Network) - A Lonestar State battle will take center stage tonight, when the Dallas Mavericks host the arch-rival San Antonio Spurs at AmericanAirlines Center.
Dallas has won two straight, while the Spurs have ripped off three consecutive victories. San Antonio sits atop the Southwest Division by 1 1/2 games over the Mavericks.
On Saturday, San Antonio continued its winning streak with a 109-76 victory over Utah. Malik Rose scored 16 points off the bench to lead six players in double figures as the Spurs picked up the win.
Manu Ginobili had 15 points and Tim Duncan added 12 and a game-high 13 rebounds for the 11-3 Spurs, who have won 18 in a row against the Jazz. Tony Parker and Devin Brown each netted 14 points, while Bruce Bowen contributed 11 in the win.
San Antonio has tightened the screws on the defensive end in its last three games, limiting foes to just 77 points per contest.
The Spurs are off to their best start since the 1999-00 squad opened the season 14-3.
San Antonio, which is 5-3 on the road this season, is beginning a consecutive night set which will include hosting Philadelphia on Wednesday.
Dallas has won consecutive contests, including Saturday's 98-85 victory over Memphis. Dirk Nowitzki finished with 32 points and 18 rebounds to lead Dallas to the road win. Nowitzki is averaging 26 points and 13.3 rebounds per contest since an ankle injury.
Jerry Stackhouse contributed 20 points for the Mavericks, while Erick Dampier finished with a season-high 16 points and eight rebounds before fouling out. Juwan Howard registered 12 points and Jason Terry added 10 in the victory.
The Mavericks, which are opening up a four-game homestand, have tallied a 5-2 mark at home this season.
San Antonio has won two straight on the heels of four consecutive series losses. Nonetheless, Dallas has won five of the last eight meetings in the set. The Spurs have dropped two straight and three of their last four at Dallas.
