Los Angeles Lakers (10-8) at Los Angeles Clippers (11-7), 10:30 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The battle of Los Angeles resumes tonight, as the Clippers play the home team in their tilt with the Clippers this evening at the Staples Center.
The Lakers defeated the Clips earlier in the season and have won four straight and nine of the last 10 matchups. The Lakers have also had success as the visitor in this series, winning three of four and 13 of the last 15.
Kobe Bryant and the Lakers come into tonight's contest on a losing note following a 113-10 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday. Bryant posted his second triple-double in as many games with 20 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists for the Lakers, who have dropped two of three.
LA looked to be on its way to the victory with a seemingly comfortable 107-94 lead midway through the fourth. However, the Lakers could not hold on to the 13-point edge as they allowed the Suns to post 15 unanswered points for a 109-107 advantage with 1:50 to go.
The Lakers, who play three of their next four on the road, are 3-5 away from home this season.
The Clippers, meanwhile, have played well of late and enter tonight's contest on the heels of a 99-93 double-overtime win over the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday. Corey Maggette scored eight of his 33 points after regulation to lead the way.
Maggette was 19-of-21 from the foul line and he also pulled down 11 rebounds to help the Clippers to their sixth win in seven games. Elton Brand scored 19 points with seven boards before getting ejected late in the fourth quarter for a flagrant foul.
Bobby Simmons chipped in 16 points and nine rebounds in a career-high 52 minutes, while Marko Jaric starred defensively with five steals to go with 10 assists.
The Clippers, who will close a seven-game homestand on Monday against Boston, are 7-4 in their arena this season.
