NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Saturday, December 12th (All times eastern)

Charlotte Bobcats (9-12) at Dallas Mavericks (16-7), 8:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Southwest Division-leading Dallas Mavericks hope to continue their mastery of the Charlotte Bobcats tonight, when the two clubs square off at American Airlines Center.

The Mavericks have won all 10 matchups with the Bobcats and took both meetings from them a year ago. Charlotte has been held under 100 points in every contest in this series.

Dallas has won two in a row overall and four of its last six games, including Friday's 106-93 triumph at Miami behind 25 points from Dirk Nowitzki. Erick Dampier added 20 points and 17 rebounds, while Jason Terry scored 16 points in a winning effort.

"This is not an unusual thing, [Dampier] playing well and at a high level," Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle said. "He became a guy that we really depended on last year and it's the same way this year."

Charlotte had a brief two-game winning streak come to an end with Friday's 104-85 defeat at San Antonio.

Stephen Jackson had 23 points, five rebounds and four steals for the Bobcats, who got 18 points and six rebounds from Gerald Wallace. Boris Diaw chipped in 10 points in a losing cause.

"We ran out of gas. We didn't get to the free-throw line and we took some bad shots. The Spurs executed well and made their shots," Bobcats head coach Larry Brown said of the fourth quarter.

The Bobcats were outrebounded by a 40-25 margin.
