Atlanta Hawks (13-6) at Dallas Mavericks (14-6), 9 p.m.
(Sports Network) - A pair of top tier teams coming off disappointing losses last night hit the hardwood in Dallas Saturday when the Mavericks host the Atlanta Hawks.
The Mavs were blitzed in Memphis on Friday when O.J. Mayo had five three- pointers and 25 total points, leading the Grizzlies to a dominating 98-82 win over Dallas at FedExForum.
Jason Terry scored 18 points off the bench for Dallas, which had won four of five coming into the game. Dirk Nowitzki had 16 points, while Jason Kidd provided 13 points and seven assists in defeat.
"Just a bad game for us. We didn't do the job defensively," said Mavs center Erick Dampier. "It was kind of hard to stay in the game when you're not making shots, either. Even when our shots aren't going, our defense has to be there every night."
The Hawks, meanwhile, were stunned on their home floor by the lowly New York Knicks. Al Harrington finished with a team-high 27 points and Chris Duhon scored 25 points and dished out 10 assists in that one , as the Knicks held on to beat Atlanta Hawks, 114-107.
Joe Johnson led all scorers with 29 points to go along with eight rebounds and eight assists for Atlanta, which was coming off a 146-115 rout of Toronto on Wednesday. The Hawks have dropped four of six after winning the previous seven games. Marvin Williams donated 20 points and six boards, while Al Horford had 17 points and 14 rebounds.
"He tends to do that against us quite a bit," Williams said about Harrington's fast start. "He always gets off to a hot start and it gets kind of contagious for those guys. We just didn't do a good job of defending early."
Josh Smith had eight points and five rebounds before getting ejected midway through the second quarter after receiving two technicals for arguing a call.
These two teams split the home-and-home series last season with each club holding serve on its home court. Overall, Atlanta has lost five straight in Dallas and 10 of its 11 trips to north Texas.
