NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Saturday, April 11th (All times eastern)

Phoenix Suns (43-36) at Minnesota Timberwolves (24-55), 8 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Minnesota Timberwolves shoot for their third consecutive win on Saturday when they return to the Twin Cities to host the Phoenix Suns at the Target Center.

The Wolves are coming off two straight wins in California. After dispatching of the Los Angeles Clippers earlier in the week, Minnesota completed the Cali sweep on Wednesday when Kevin Love poured in 20 points and pulled down a game- high 12 rebounds to lead the Timberwolves to a hard-fought 105-97 win over the Golden State Warriors.

Sebastian Telfair added 21 points off the bench for the Timberwolves. Ryan Gomes and Brian Cardinal ended with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Craig Smith ended with 14 points, while Bobby Brown chipped in 10 points off the bench for the victors. Wolves forward Rodney Carney is probable for Saturday's game with a bruised right hip.

The Suns will close out a four-game road trip tonight, and are 1-2 on the trek and 17-23 away from the desert this season. In Friday's 106-89 setback at Memphis, Louis Amundson and Jason Richardson paced the Suns with 13 points apiece and Matt Barnes, Shaquille O'Neal and Steve Nash each scored nine points for Phoenix, which was beaten out by the Dallas Mavericks for the eighth and final playoff berth in the Western Conference on Wednesday.

Phoenix will miss the playoffs for the first time since the 2003-04 campaign, and will close out the season with a two-game homestand versus the Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors.

These two teams have split a pair of meetings this season with each club winning on the other's home floor. Phoenix has dropped 11 of its last 16 trips to the Twin Cities.
