Charlotte Bobcats (18-26) at Los Angeles Lakers (35-8), 10:30 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The improving Charlotte Bobcats face one of their toughest tests Tuesday in Hollywood as they take on one of the NBA's best teams, the Los Angeles Lakers, at Staples Center.
The Bobcats lost the opener of a five-game road trip Sunday in Indianapolis when budding star Danny Granger finished with 27 points and six rebounds, as the Indiana Pacers held on for a 98-93 win over Charlotte.
Boris Diaw and Raja Bell each had 18 points for the Bobcats, who had won two straight coming in. Emeka Okafor finished with 14 points and eight boards, while Raymond Felton had 12 assists, nine points and five rebounds in Charlotte's loss.
The Bobcats, who are now 5-13 as the visitor on the year, will also face Portland, Denver and Utah on their trek.
The Lakers, meanwhile, won their fourth straight contest and improved to 2-0 on a three-game homestand on Sunday when Kobe Bryant led five Los Angeles players in double figures with 22 points, as the Lakers downed the San Antonio Spurs, 99-85, in a matchup of two of the Western Conference's top teams.
Andrew Bynum finished with 15 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks for the Lakers, who improved to a gaudy 23-3 at Staples Center.
Trevor Ariza added 17 points, Pau Gasol 16 and Jordan Farmar 14 in LA's win. Farmar returned from a 17-game absence, as he was sidelined with a knee injury.
The Lakers will hit the road for a six-game road trip following tonight's game.
Charlotte has actually won four of its last five meetings with the Lakers, including a 108-95 stunner in LA last season. Overall the teams have split their eight all-time meetings.
