NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Sunday, March 8th (All times eastern)

New York Knicks (25-36) at New Jersey Nets (27-35), 6 p.m.

(Sports Network) - A pair of teams fighting for a playoff spot get together this evening at the Meadowlands, as the New Jersey Nets play host to the rival New York Knicks.

New Jersey is just 1 1/2 games off the eighth and final playoff spot in the East, but has lost two straight, three of four and eight of the last 11 games, including a 105-102 setback at Orlando on Friday.

Devin Harris led the Nets with 25 points and nine assists, while Vince Carter and Yi Jianlian added 19 and 12 points, respectively, in defeat. New Jersey will try to improve on its 13-19 home record Sunday night.

Meanwhile, the Knicks will open a five-game road trip Sunday against the Nets, Bucks, Pistons, Timberwolves and Cavaliers, and are 7-21 away from Madison Square Garden this season. They have dropped four of five games overall and are coming off Saturday's 114-105 home loss versus Charlotte.

Al Harrington posted 24 points and Nate Robinson chipped in 20 for New York, which saw David Lee's streak of 24 consecutive double-doubles come to an end. Lee recorded 10 points and seven boards in a losing cause.

Knicks forward Jared Jeffries is questionable against New Jersey because of a bruised left knee.

New York, which is three games off a playoff spot, defeated the Atlantic Division-rival Nets, 121-109, on December 10 this season at the IZOD Center and has won four of the last five meetings in the series.

The Knicks are unbeaten in their last three games at the Meadowlands.
