NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Sunday, March 8th (All times eastern)

Orlando Magic (45-16) at Boston Celtics (49-14), 1 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference get together Sunday for an afternoon affair, as the Boston Celtics welcome the Orlando Magic to TD Banknorth Garden.

Boston has beaten the Magic twice already this season and recorded a 90-80 victory in the previous meeting on January 22 in Orlando. The Celtics have played particularly well at home in this series, having won three straight and 12 of the past 14 in Beantown. The Celtics, who have already captured a playoff berth, sit just a half game behind top-seeded Cleveland in the East and are riding back-to-back wins.

In a 105-94 victory over the Cavaliers on Friday at the Garden, Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 29 points and nine assists, while Leon Powe finished with a season-best 20-point, 11-rebound effort. Ray Allen added 17 points, as the Celtics moved to 5-2 in this recent stretch without All-Star Kevin Garnett. Garnett is nursing a knee strain for the Atlantic Division-leading Celtics, who are 26-5 at home this season.

Meanwhile, third-seeded Orlando will try to push its winning streak to four straight games Sunday in Boston. The Magic recorded their third consecutive victory with a 105-102 win versus New Jersey on Friday, as Hedo Turkoglu scored eight of the Magic's final nine points and finished with 13 points and eight boards in a winning cause.

Dwight Howard posted his usual 26-point, 15-rebound effort, and fellow All- Star Rashard Lewis registered 21 points for Orlando, which has won six of eight games to pad its lead in the Southeast.

The Magic will also visit Detroit on the brief road swing and are a solid 21-9 away from Amway Arena in 2008-09.
