NBA Preview from The Sports Network
Tuesday, February 24th (All times eastern)
Los Angeles Lakers (46-10) at Oklahoma City Thunder (13-43), 8:00 p.m.
(Sports Network) - Kobe Bryant will lead the Los Angeles Lakers into Oklahoma City tonight for a showdown against the Thunder in the finale of a short two- game road trip at the Ford Center.
Los Angeles has won four in a row and 11 of its last 12 games, including Sunday's 111-108 victory at Minnesota in which Bryant scored 28 points to move past Elgin Baylor and into 20th place on the NBA's career scoring list.
Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom scored 25 points apiece, while Odom also added 14 rebounds in a winning effort. Odom is averaging 17.2 points and 13.9 rebounds since teammate and starting center Andrew Bynum went down with a torn MCL in his right knee on January 31.
The Pacific Division-leading Lakers, who own the NBA's best record at 46-10, have won two straight road games and are 20-6 away from Hollywood this season.
Oklahoma City has been struggling of late, losing five in a row to fall to an abysmal 13-43 on the year. The Thunder just lost both tests on a short two- game road trip and suffered a 133-120 loss against Golden State on Saturday at ORACLE Arena.
Kevin Durant had 32 points in the loss, his third consecutive 30-point game and eighth this month. Jeff Green finished with 27 points, a career-high 15 boards and six assists, while Russell Westbrook added 31 points and 11 assists for Oklahoma City, which will try to improve on its 10-19 home mark Tuesday versus perhaps the best team in the league.
LA handed the Thunder a 105-98 loss on February 10 this season at Staples Center and has won seven straight and nine of the last 10 meetings. The Lakers have won three straight as the visitor against Seattle/Oklahoma City.
