NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Tuesday, December 9th (All times eastern)

Atlanta Hawks (12-7) at Houston Rockets (13-8), 8:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Houston Rockets will shoot for their fourth straight win at home tonight when they welcome the Atlanta Hawks to the Toyota Center.

Houston is 6-3 as the host this season and had a brief two-game winning streak stopped with Monday's 109-97 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies at FedEx Forum. Luis Scola and Rafer Alston scored 16 points apiece and Von Wafer added 15 for the Rockets, who lost for just the third time in nine tries overall.

Yao Ming and Aaron Brooks each added 14 points in defeat. Houston is still without star Tracy McGrady, who sat out with a banged up left knee. Forward Ron Artest missed Monday's loss with an ankle injury and is day-to-day.

Atlanta will resume a four-game road trip Tuesday and opened the swing with a 100-98 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday at American Airlines Center.

Joe Johnson notched a game-high 32 points, while Mike Bibby finished with 21 points and five assists for the Hawks, who are 5-6 as the guest this season and will also visit San Antonio and Miami on the trek.

On the injury front for Atlanta, center Al Horford is questionable against Houston with an ankle injury. Horford did not play at Dallas.

The Rockets went 2-0 against the Hawks a year ago and have won two straight and seven of the last 10 matchups. Atlanta in winless in its last nine trips to Houston.

Houston is 15-1 in the last 16 meetings as the host in this series.
