Philadelphia 76ers (14-31) at Houston Rockets (27-16), 8:30 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Houston Rockets hope to continue their winning ways
when they host the Philadelphia 76ers this evening at the Toyota Center.
The Rockets come into the game winners in two straight after pounding the
Portland Trail Blazers, 99-69. Tracy McGrady poured in 28 points on 11-of-16
shooting for Houston, which outscored Portland 32-14 in a decisive third
Shane Battier netted 15 points and Bonzi Wells added 14 points in the win.
Houston is 14-5 as the host this season and its win over the Trail Blazers was
the opener of a five-game homestand.
Houston, which is eight games behind Dallas for the top spot in the Southwest
conference, also hosts Seattle, New Orleans/Oklahoma City and Minnesota on the
The 76ers, meanwhile, are on a bit of a surge as of late having won four of
their last six. Most recently, Philadelphia knocked off Atlanta, 104-89 behind
19 points from Andre Miller, who also had seven boards and eight assists.
Andre Iguodala had a team-high 24 points in the win, which came in the first
tilt of a quick three-game road trip. Philadelphia travels to Oklahoma
City to take on the Hornets Wednesday before returning home for seven games.
Samuel Dalembert recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 boards in
addition to seven blocks against the Hawks. Philadelphia trails division-
leading Toronto by eight games.
Houston had won seven in a row over the Sixers before dropping a 106-101
decision to Philadelphia in March of last season. The Rockets have still won
nine of their last 11 meetings with Philadelphia overall.
This is the first of two meetings between the clubs this year, as the Rockets
travel to Philadelphia in March.
