NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Monday, December 11th (All times eastern)

Portland Trail Blazers (8-14) at Philadelphia 76ers (5-14), 7 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Philadelphia 76ers will try to stay focused on basketball this evening when they host the Portland Trail Blazers at the Wachovia Center.

Philadelphia has dropped seven in a row and is close to granting superstar Allen Iverson his wish to be traded. Iverson has missed the past two games after being sent home prior to Friday's defeat to Washington. During the loss to the Wizards, Sixers owner and president Ed Snider said the team's best player and captain will be traded.

On Saturday the 76ers suffered an 86-84 loss to the Orlando Magic at TD Waterhouse Centre. Chris Webber scored 19 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had eight helpers for the Sixers, who have lost 11 of 12. Andre Iguodala also had 19 points and Kyle Korver added 16 in defeat.

The Sixers have returned home for two games and are just 3-4 at the Wachovia Center this season.

Portland, meanwhile, will resume its six-game road trip at Philly and is 2-2 so far on the swing. The Blazers notched a 93-83 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday thanks to Jarrett Jack, who had 22 points, nine rebounds and eight assists at Air Canada Centre.

Martell Webster netted 22 points and pulled down eight boards, while Juan Dixon added 16 points for the Blazers, who snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 4-8 away from The Rose Garden this season.

Portland and Philadelphia split a pair of meetings last season. The Blazers have won two of three and five of the last eight meetings.

The Blazers have also won five of seven and eight of its last 13 trips to the City of Brotherly Love.
