NBA Game Summary - Milwaukee at Detroit

(Friday, February 22nd)

Final Score: Detroit 127, Milwaukee 100

Auburn Hills, MI (Sports Network) - Chauncey Billups had nine of his game-high 21 points during a big run that closed out the second quarter, which catapulted Detroit to a 127-100 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Billups also dished out a game-high 12 assists and Rasheed Wallace scored 17 points for the Pistons, who have won 12 of their last 13 overall and nine of 11 at home. Antonio McDyess added 15 points and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds for Detroit, which avenged a 103-98 loss at Milwaukee on Wednesday.

"It was a big game for us," said Billups. "Like I said Wednesday night (in Milwaukee), that fourth quarter we got back to playing how we play. We came in today and played that way form the start of the game. It wasn't easy, they made a run, cut the lead and got the lead. It wasn't easy but we stayed aggressive on both ends and opened the game up."

Michael Redd and Charlie Villanueva both scored 18 for the Bucks, who have lost nine of its last 10 road games. Mo Williams pitched in with 16 points for Milwaukee, which has lost 15 of 20 overall.

"I think it was the turning point for sure in the game," said Bucks head coach Larry Krystkowiak. "At halftime they had 32 of their 65 points in transition and second-chance points. I think it was 16-2 second chance and that is all energy stuff. We did a nice job guarding in the half court but we were playing Russian roulette when you are giving up second-chance points and when we missed shots we went a little stagnant. When we missed a shot or turned it over you can't hang your head because they had an energy group in the second quarter and got off scored 15 points in transition. That was big and the difference in the game."

With 8:34 left in the second quarter, Milwaukee took its biggest lead of the game at 40-36 after a Yi Jianlian dunk, but the lead didn't last for long. A Wallace putback dunk sparked a 29-6 run in the last 7:58 of the second quarter. The run included nine foul shots made by Billups, and it put the Pistons up 65-46 going into the break. Amir Johnson scored seven during the flurry.

Detroit remained hot in the third quarter, and a Wallace reverse layup with 7:56 left in the quarter gave the Pistons a 77-56 lead. With 2:20 remaining, Jason Maxiell was fouled on a layup and made his free throw to complete the three-point play to give Detroit its biggest lead of the quarter at 98-71 and it was 100-74 going into the fourth.

Milwaukee started the final stanza on a run. A Yi driving layup sparked a 14-3 rally to cut the deficit to 107-88 with 7:38 remaining, but it was too little too late, as the Pistons cruised the rest of the way.

The Pistons jumped out to a 7-2 lead after a McDyess jump shot with 9:30 left in the first quarter. Milwaukee came back though, as a Bogut hook shot capped a 13-4 run in the final 2:43 of the first quarter to give the Bucks a 35-33 lead.
