NBA Game Summary - Golden State at Utah
(Tuesday, February 19th)
Final Score: Utah 119, Golden State 109
Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - Deron Williams had a game-high 29 points and dished out 12 assists, as the Utah Jazz picked up their 13th win in 14 games, 119-109 over the Golden State Warriors.
Andrei Kirilenko added 18 points while Carlos Boozer scored 16 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for the Jazz, who have won 13 straight home games. This is Utah's longest home winning streak since the 1996-97 season, when the Jazz had another 13-game home surge.
"This is not normally the type of basketball we like to play but we'll take a win any way we can get it and it's good just to get that first one after the break," said Williams. "You never know how things are going to go, but I was happy as long as we get the victory."
Al Harrington posted 21 points and five rebounds while Monta Ellis scored 18 points for the Warriors, who had a three-game winning streak snapped.
"It was a high paced game...we let them take that 10-0 run at the end of the first half, and I think at that point we gave them a little more momentum than we should have," said Golden State's Baron Davis. "They are a good team, and a matchup problem for us, and I think the fact that they were hitting their outside jumpers tonight really helped them to continue to push that lead."
With just under two minutes left in the second quarter, Stephen Jackson hit a three-pointer to cut Utah's lead to 67-64. That is the closest Golden State got the rest of the game. The Jazz went on a 10-0 run to end the second quarter leading, 77-64.
The Jazz continued to roll in the third. With 8:32 remaining, Mehmet Okur hit a reverse layup to give Utah a 91-70 lead. The lead continued to grow, as the Jazz took a 100-77 edge after a Ronnie Brewer dunk with 3:24 left. Kirilenko followed with a tip-in.
Matt Barnes hit a three-pointer with just under seven minutes left to play in the fourth quarter to cut Utah's lead to 109-95, but a Williams jump shot and an Okur three put the lead back to 19 and the Jazz cruised the rest of the way.
Jackson sprained his left ankle in the third quarter and did not return.
The first quarter was back and forth. Golden State took a 36-30 lead after a Davis layup capped off a 10-4 spurt with 1:31 remaining. Utah came back and scored the final six points to tie the score going into the second.
