NBA Game Summary - Seattle at Dallas

(Tuesday, April 8th)

Final Score: Dallas 99, Seattle 83

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Jason Terry had 22 points and six assists as Dallas downed Seattle, 99-83, at American Airlines Center.

Josh Howard had 17 points and six rebounds while Dirk Nowitzki added 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Mavericks, who have won four of their last five games.

Dallas currently holds the seventh spot in the Western Conference.

"We knew we hadn't played well in the first half and this was a dangerous team," said Terry. "They don't have anything to play for right now but pride and they were out there free wheeling, playing loose and having fun and thats what they did to us in the first half. We got down to business in the second half and got serious in the second half, we really put it on them."

Earl Watson totaled 22 points, eight assists and five rebounds while Kevin Durant added 16 points and six rebounds for the SuperSonics, who have dropped six of their last seven games.

"They did a good job of executing," said Watson. "Once they got the lead they just held on to it and got better. They're a playoff team and are playing well down the stretch."

Seattle led by as many as four points in the first quarter, but back-to-back three-pointers from Terry in the late stages of the opening quarter allowed Dallas to take a 23-21 lead into the second.

The Mavericks scored the first eight points of the second quarter and held a 31-21 lead on Erick Dampier's layup with 8:48 left in the half.

Seattle, though, ripped off six straight points to close out the half and trailed, 46-44, heading into the locker room.

A 10-2 run in the third quarter pushed Dallas' lead to 64-55 on a Brandon Bass fadeaway jumper with 4:13 left in the quarter. Dallas took a 70-63 lead into the final quarter.

The Sonics kept it close through the first half of the fourth quarter, but Dallas scored 11 unanswered points and held a 91-71 lead on a Terry basket with 4:07 left.

Seattle never threatened the rest of the way.
