NBA Game Summary - Toronto at Houston

(Saturday, December 29th)

Final Score: Houston 91, Toronto 79

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Yao Ming posted a game-high 25 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Houston over Toronto, 91-79, at Toyota Center.

Rafer Alston scored 18 points and dished out five assists for the Rockets, who have won three of four. Bonzi Wells and Luther Head each poured in 13 points to help Houston's winning cause.

Chris Bosh picked up 19 points and a game-best 12 boards for the Raptors, who have dropped four of five. Jose Calderon posted 11 points and 10 assists and Jamario Moon also scored 11 in the loss.

"We're gonna hustle. It's just about finding a way to win," Bosh said. "Once we get focused on how to play every night, we can start to win more ball games."

The game was deadlocked 19-19 after one quarter. Alston posted five points and Yao had four for Houston, while Bosh scored four for Toronto.

The second quarter continued to be a back-and-forth affair, but the Raptors managed to take a 40-35 lead late thanks to a 7-1 run. However, the Rockets undid that by scoring the last five points of the period on Alston's three and a Wells layup.

A 14-7 run midway through the third quarter boosted the Rockets to a 63-56 lead, ending on Yao's turnaround jumper with 1:57 left. Rasho Nesterovic's jumper with 44 seconds to go brought Toronto within 63-62, but Head's five straight points to end the quarter put Houston up 68-64 after three.

An 8-4 burst midway through the fourth quarter, ended by Yao's pair from the line, gave Houston an 80-72 lead.

"In the fourth quarter, you can't make any mistakes," Yao said. "I wanted to put the ball in the hoop and get the lead and go home."

Battier's three-pointer with 1:15 remaining put the home team ahead by 11, and Alston's trey with seconds to go put the exclamation point on the victory.
