NBA Game Summary - New York at Orlando

(Wednesday, December 26th)

Final Score: Orlando 110, New York 96

Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Hedo Turkoglu had 26 points, six rebounds, and six assists, and the Orlando Magic defeated the New York Knicks, 110-96.

Rashard Lewis scored 25 points and had six rebounds for the Magic, who had dropped four of five entering play. Orlando won despite a quiet night for Dwight Howard, who finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

"It's frustrating," Howard said of the double-teams he's been getting. "But they're going to have to play me or leave shooters wide open. Tonight, Rashard was hitting a lot of open shots."

Jamal Crawford scored 29 points to lead the Knicks, who have lost three in a row and nine of 11. Zach Randolph had 22 points and nine rebounds, and Nate Robinson scored 16 points off the bench for New York, which continued to play without guard Stephon Marbury.

Marbury did not accompany the team on its flight to Orlando, and it is unclear when he is expected back in the lineup. He has missed eight of 12 games following the death of his father on December 2. The Knicks have gone 3-9 in those games.

Knicks starting center Eddy Curry played only two minutes in the first three quarters and totaled less than five minutes for the entire game, as he accumulated two quick personal fouls.

"It is extremely tough to sit for that long," Curry said. "I am not used to that at all. I hope it doesn't continue."

The Magic put the Knicks away with a 20-6 run to open the fourth quarter. Turkoglu opened the quarter with a three-pointer, and scored 10 points on the run, including a conventional three-point play. Lewis closed the stretch with a jumper, pushing the Magic lead to 99-82 with six minutes left. The Knicks did not threaten the double-digit lead down the stretch.

Randolph scored 11 points in the first, and the Knicks led 31-26 after a last- second Robinson jumper ended the quarter. Quentin Richardson had a buzzer- beater of his own in the second quarter, this one a three-pointer that boosted the Knicks ahead 51-50 at the intermission.

The Magic pushed on top in the third quarter, taking a 64-60 lead on a Howard dunk with 7:27 left. New York answered with eight straight points, part of an 11-3 run, to take a 71-67 edge.

The Magic pushed back in front, though, on three Turkoglu free throws later in the quarter, and took a 79-76 lead into the fourth quarter.
