NBA Game Summary - Miami at Orlando

(Saturday, November 24th)

Final Score: Orlando 120, Miami 99

Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Hedo Turkoglu scored 27 points and Dwight Howard had 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Orlando Magic over the Miami Heat, 120-99, at Amway Arena.

Rashard Lewis added 19 points and Keyon Dooling had 17 points for the Magic, who have won two straight and seven of eight. Jameer Nelson tallied 12 points and seven assists for Orlando, which has won six straight over its Sunshine State rival.

This was Orlando head coach Stan Van Gundy's first appearance against the Heat since he was replaced by Pat Riley as Miami's coach two seasons ago.

"Tonight was like any other game, it really was," said Van Gundy. "I think if I have any emotion on that it will be when I go back to Miami arena and know a lot of people there, that might be different."

"He's done a great job," said Riley of his long-time assistant Van Gundy.

Dwyane Wade had 32 points, six assists and six rebounds to lead the Heat, who have dropped two of three. Shaquille O'Neal added 20 points and Ricky Davis scored 23 for Miami, which was never really in this game.

"Once we stop making silly mental mistakes, then we can be one of those upper echelon teams," said O'Neal. "We already gave away six of seven games. It is unfortunate, but we just have to limit our mistakes and pick it up."

Orlando led 34-28 after one quarter and ahead 46-45 late in the second, then ended the half by scoring 12 of the final 16 points. Lewis scored four points during the surge, which gave Orlando a 58-49 lead going into the locker room.

Then, ahead 65-58 early in the third quarter, the Magic scored 11 straight points. Nelson began the surge with a layup and Turkoglu finished it with a three-pointer at the 6:27 mark for a 76-58 cushion.

Later, a pair of Dooling free throws with 2:28 remaining made it a 20-point game, 86-66, and the Magic cruised into the fourth with a 91-76 lead.

Miami, which last beat the Magic on February 15, 2006, never seriously threatened in the final quarter.
