Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Zydrunas Ilgauskas shot a perfect 10-for-10 from the field, scoring 24 points as the streaking Cleveland Cavaliers cruised to a 121-85 destruction of the Washington Wizards.
Ilgauskas scored 15 points in the first quarter for Cleveland, which has won five straight and 11 of 13. LeBron James had 23 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists for the Cavaliers, who outscored the Wizards 43-17 in the third quarter to blow the game wide open. Drew Gooden had 18 points and 10 boards, and Devin Brown added 15 points for the Cavs.
Brendan Haywood had 11 points for the Wizards, who had won five of six entering play. Antawn Jamison, Caron Butler, and Roger Mason each had 10 points for Washington.
Cleveland exploded in the third quarter, outscoring the Wizards by 26 points as they poured in a season high for points in a quarter. Larry Hughes got it started with a dunk, and a 19-5 Cavs run boosted the Cleveland lead to 20 points, at 71-51, with 6:52 remaining.
The lead still stood at 20 when the Cavs pushed out on another run, this time an 11-0 stretch, pushing their lead to 31 late in the quarter. The Cavs led 95-63 entering the final 12 minutes.
Cleveland didn't let up in the fourth quarter, leading by as many as 45 points down the stretch on the way to the easy win.
It was the Ilgauskas-and-James show in the first quarter, as the two combined for 28 of Cleveland's 34 points. A James three-pointer kicked off a 9-0 run that pushed the Cavs ahead 30-19 late in the quarter.
An Ilgauskas hook shot gave him 15 points on the quarter, and put Cleveland up 11 late in the first. After five straight Wizards points, James sank two free throws that put the Cavs up 34-26 entering the second quarter.
Cleveland led 52-46 at the half.
Cleveland fell three points shy of the club record for most points in a quarter, 46, which it's done twice -- in 1979 against Detroit and in 1992 against Washington...The Cavs have won six straight at home...Cleveland dominated the glass, outrebounding the Wizards, 53-29...Sasha Pavlovic finished with 13 points and seven assists for Cleveland.
