NBA Game Summary - Portland at Utah

(Tuesday, December 11th)

Final Score: Portland 97, Utah 89

Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - Martell Webster scored 25 points, including a 5-of-8 effort from beyond the arc, as Portland downed Utah, 97-89, at EnergySolutions Arena.

Brandon Roy and Jarrett Jack donated 16 points apiece for the Trail Blazers, who have reeled off four wins in a row. Travis Outlaw added 11 points and Channing Frye notched 10 points in the victory.

"I think we were able to help us keep that lead, and you know I think the guys off the bench played extremely well tonight," said Jack.

Carlos Boozer scored a game-high 29 points with 12 rebounds and Paul Millsap added 14 points with nine rebounds. Utah outrebounded Portland, 48-36, despite dropping its fourth straight.

"We have really been an ineffective defensive team. We haven't been able to keep people in front of us and when we do we don't get the kind of help we need to be successful," Utah head coach Jerry Sloan said.

After scoring a career-best 41 points against Dallas last Saturday, Deron Williams tallied just 11 points on 4-of-14 shooting with nine assists.

Portland played without leading scorer LaMarcus Aldridge, who didn't make the trip with a foot injury.

The Trail Blazers scored seven points in a row during the second stanza, opening a 46-36 lead after Jack drained a pair of free throws. Portland led 55-46 at the half.

Back-to-back threes by Steve Blake and Webster pushed the edge to 67-50 with 8:04 remaining in the third quarter. The Jazz scored the final six points of the period to get within 78-66.

Gordan Giricek's three-pointer cut the Utah deficit to 82-78 with 7:10 left to play. Roy scored six consecutive points for the Trail Blazers down the stretch to withstand Utah's rally.
