NBA Game Summary - Miami at Portland

(Thursday, December 6th)

Final Score: Portland 112, Miami 106

Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Brandon Roy scored a game-high 25 points, had five rebounds and dished out six assists as Portland held off Miami, 112-106, at the Rose Garden.

Travis Outlaw added 20 points and also grabbed seven rebounds off the bench for the Trail Blazers, who have won two straight following a four-game skid. LaMarcus Aldridge had a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards, while James Jones also chipped in with 14 points.

Dwyane Wade had 21 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists for Miami, which has dropped four straight and is 0-3 thus far on a six-game road trip. Daequan Cook came off the bench to record 20 points, while Ricky Davis had 18 for the Heat, who had five players in double figures.

Portland entered the final frame clinging to a four-point lead, but couldn't pull away, even as an Aldridge jumper made it 86-79 with about 10 minutes remaining.

Wade buried a jumper, pulling Miami within 88-85, but Steve Blake knocked down a long-distance shot at the other end before an Aldridge jumper made it 93-87 with 5:06 left.

Miami once again closed within three, but Portland finally put the game away with a 7-0 run, capped by Outlaw's three-point play, as he scored on a driving dunk, drew the foul and converted the free throw to make it 100-90.

The Heat failed to rally after that, never pulling closer than six, as the Blazers worked to run down the clock on the way to the final buzzer.

The Blazers raced out to a 30-25 lead after the opening 12 minutes, then extended that advantage to 56-42 at intermission.

Portland outscored Miami 26-17 in the second quarter, getting 14 of those points from Jones, who contributed four shots from beyond the arc.

The Trail Blazers' lead dwindled in the third, though, as they were outscored by double-digits, but still played frontrunner heading to the fourth quarter, 77-73.
