NBA Game Summary - Chicago at Indiana

(Sunday, March 25th)

Final Score: Chicago 92, Indiana 90

Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Ben Gordon's fade away jump shot with two ticks left on the clock lifted the Chicago Bulls over the Indiana Pacers, 92-90, at Conseco Fieldhouse.

With Chicago holding a 90-88 lead, Jermaine O'Neal scored on a fade away jump shot with 1:02 left to tie the score heading down to the final minute.

Both teams turned the ball over several times, before Malik Allen rebounded a missed Jamaal Tinsley jumper. Gordon replaced Ben Wallace for offensive purposes, a move that paid off as he scored on a fade away of his own with just two ticks left for the game winner.

"I was joking with my teammates in the huddle that they just missed a shot, I'm going to take the next shot and make it," Gordon said.

Gordon scored 31 points for Chicago, which is fifth in the Eastern Conference playoff race and won its second straight. Luol Deng posted 14 points and 10 rebounds and Kirk Hinrich also had 14 points for Chicago, which is still four games off the lead in the Central Division,

O'Neal posted 39 points and 14 boards for Indiana, which continued a three- game homestand and has dropped 14 of their last 16 games. Mike Dunleavy scored 23 points for the Pacers, who will close out the stand on Tuesday versus the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Trailing by six nearing the midway point of the first quarter, Indiana went on a 7-2 spurt -- ended by Troy Murphy's trey at the four-minute mark -- and led 29-28 heading into the second.

Chicago went on a 10-2 run ended by Adrian Griffin's layup with 7:22 remaining, but Indiana responded with a 12-2 burst, with O'Neal's jumper putting the Pacers ahead 48-40 with 3:44 to go.

Indiana held a 52-50 halftime advantage.

The Pacers scored the first eight points out of the locker room for a double- digit, 60-50, lead a tick under two minutes into the third. But, the Bulls closed the stanza on a 12-2 run capped by Gordon's jumper at the buzzer for a 71-70 deficit heading into the fourth.

"We had to scramble on that play but we got a good look all things considered," Indiana coach Rick Carlisle said.
