The Rockets won on Monday night against Phoenix to secure homecourt advantage in the best-of-seven set. Had Houston faltered against the Suns, Wednesday night's season-finale between the Jazz and Rockets would have determined homecourt advantage.
Paul Millsap and Mehmet Okur each had 16 points and Deron Williams and Derek Fisher each had 13 for the Jazz, who have won two of three.
Travis Outlaw had 26 points to lead Portland, which has lost five of six. Martell Webster added 14 points and Dan Dickau tallied 13 for the Blazers, who end their season on Wednesday at home against Golden State.
The Jazz blew this game open in the second quarter, opening the frame with a 10-2 run to extend a 26-23 lead to start the frame into a 36-25 cushion. Giricek scored the final four points of the surge, giving his club an 11-point lead with a bucket just 2 1/2 minutes into action.
Utah then went on a 14-4 run later in the frame to open up a comfortable advantage. Boozer scored six points during the run, which was capped by an Andrei Kirilenko basket with just over three minutes left for a 60-41 cushion.
Utah cruised into halftime with a 63-45 lead and was never threatened over the final 24 minutes of play. Portland trailed by as many as 29 points, 86-57, in the third after an Okur bucket with five minutes to play and the Jazz went into the fourth with a 94-72 advantage.
The final quarter got way out of control for the Trail Blazers, as the Jazz won going away.
