NBA Game Summary - Seattle at San Antonio

(Saturday, February 24th)

Final Score: San Antonio 102, Seattle 71

San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Tony Parker scored 21 points as San Antonio blitzed Seattle, 102-71, at the AT&T Center.

Robert Horry added 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting off the bench for the streaking Spurs, who won their fifth straight but remain buried in second place behind the NBA's best team -- the Dallas Mavericks -- in the Southwest Division. Tim Duncan chipped in with six points and 15 rebounds in limited action, while Matt Bonner finished with 13 points.

Ray Allen had 12 points but shot a miserable 4-of-20 for the Sonics, who dropped their second straight after winning the previous three. Rashard Lewis and Damien Wilkins each netted 10 points in the game.

The Spurs established control from the opening tip. Brent Barry started the scoring with a three and a pair of free throws before Duncan deposited a lay- in to give San Antonio a 7-0 edge just 1 1/2 minutes into the game.

Seattle rebounded momentarily but the Spurs kept their advantage at seven, 27-20, after the opening 12 minutes.

San Antonio then dominated the second frame with a stingy defense to put the game away. Parker fueled the Spurs on both ends of the floor and finished with 12 points in the frame as San Antonio outscored the Sonics by 15 to take a commanding 56-34 lead at intermission. Seattle shot a dismal 32 percent in the first half.

The Spurs continued to pull away in the third quarter. Horry finished the frame by drilling a jumper off the glass and sticking a three to give San Antonio an insurmountable 78-45 lead heading to the final frame.

The fourth quarter was just glorified garbage time as the Spurs went to the bench early and the Sonics never seriously threatened.
