NBA Game Summary - LA Clippers at New York

(Tuesday, February 6th)

Final Score: New York 102, LA Clippers 90

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Jamal Crawford scored 23 points, hitting a pair of key three-pointers down the stretch, as the New York Knicks rallied to beat the Los Angeles Clippers, 102-90, at Madison Square Garden.

Eddy Curry also had 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds for New York, which has won consecutive games for the first time since winning three in a row early in January. David Lee tallied 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Knicks, who held the Clippers to just 11 third-quarter points as they turned a 10- point deficit into a 10-point lead.

Stephon Marbury scored 12 of his 15 points during the third quarter, as New York won its third straight at MSG and now embarks on a three-game west coast road trip leading into the All-Star break.

Elton Brand had 22 points and 13 boards and former Knick Tim Thomas also had 22 points to lead the Clippers, who have dropped two straight after winning the opener of their current seven-game road trip.

Ahead 88-83, the Knicks began to put this game out of reach thanks to hot perimeter shooting. First, Quentin Richardson hit a three-pointer. Then, after a Brand jumper, Crawford hit a trey for a 94-85 cushion with 3:18 left.

Still ahead by nine points, 96-87, Crawford drained another three-pointer, this time with 2:08 on the clock. Lee later hit a pair of free throws with 42 seconds left to end a 14-4 run and ice the game for New York.

Richardson ended with 15 points for the Knicks, who improved to 13-13 at home and ended a four-game slide to the Clippers. New York's last win against LA came on November 12, 2004 at MSG.

"They were aggressive most of the game, coming off the pass to our low-post guys," said LA head coach Mike Dunleavy. "We had good shots that we didn't make."

The Clippers scored 10 of the first 11 points of the game and carried that momentum for the entire first half. LA led 28-19 after one quarter and 53-43 going into halftime.

The third quarter, however, was all New York. The Knicks scored the first 10 points of the stanza to tie the game at 53-53. Marbury scored the final four points of the surge, capping it with a bucket nearly four minutes into the frame.

Marbury later converted a three-point play with 2 1/2 minutes left in the stanza, as the Knicks opened up a 10-point lead of their own, 67-57. The play also capped a 24-4 run that covered the first 9 1/2 minutes of the half and New York cruised into the fourth with a 70-64 advantage.

"We let the game get out of control in the first half," said Marbury. "In the third quarter we came out and played good defense. At that point we had nothing going. I took it upon myself to get things going."
