NBA Game Summary - Milwaukee at Detroit

(Friday, February 2nd)

Final Score: Detroit 96, Milwaukee 86

Auburn Hills, MI (Sports Network) - Chauncey Billups had 20 points and eight assists to lead the Detroit Pistons over the Milwaukee Bucks, 96-86, at the Palace.

Richard Hamilton added 18 points and Tayshaun Prince had 14 points and a career-high tying 12 rebounds for the Pistons, who have won two straight and three of four. Rasheed Wallace also had 14 points and tallied seven rebounds for Detroit, which continues to lead the Central Division.

Andrew Bogut had 21 points and 13 boards to lead the Bucks, who have lost three straight and 14 of 16. Ruben Patterson added 16 points and six boards for Milwaukee, which hung with the Pistons but couldn't muster enough to come away with the win.

With the Bucks leading 60-59, the Pistons went on a 13-2 run to take the lead for good. A pair of Hamilton free throws started the surge, giving Detroit the lead for good, and Prince scored four points during the run, which gave the Pistons a 72-62 cushion going into the fourth.

Detroit kept the Bucks at bay throughout the fourth quarter. Milwaukee drew within 84-82 on a Charlie Bell layup with 2:51 left, but Billups converted a three-point play next time down the floor to extend the cushion to five points. Then, after the Bucks came up empty on the offensive end, Rasheed Wallace drained a three-pointer with 2:06 remaining to make it an eight-point affair. Jason Maxiell's jumper with 1:28 on the clock extended the cushion back to 10 points.

Wallace's three-pointer was only the second of the game hit by Detroit. He also hit the first.

Bell ended with 12 points. Maurice Williams had 15 points and seven assists for the Bucks, who went winless on a three-game road trip.

Milwaukee led 20-19 after one quarter, but went into halftime trailing 44-41.
