NBA Game Summary - New Jersey at Denver

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Vince Carter poured in 40 points, as the New Jersey Nets got back on the winning track after three straight one-point losses, with a 112-102 victory over the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center.
Bostjan Nachbar scored a career-high 22 points off the bench for the Nets, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Jason Kidd posted 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Antoine Wright and Marcus Williams both added 11 points.
"Tonight's win showed our mental toughness," New Jersey coach Lawrence Frank said. "In the fourth quarter, Vince [Carter] was phenomenal. Our guys gave a great effort."
J.R. Smith scored a team-high 28 points off the bench for the Nuggets, who lost their second straight. Carmelo Anthony scored 23 points, and Allen Iverson had 18 points and eight assists. Marcus Camby added 13 points and seven rebounds.
"They were better than us," Iverson said. "We couldn't defend them. We just didn't get it done."
Denver took control early, after closing the first quarter on a 11-2 run snapped by a Williams three-pointer with eight seconds on the clock, for a 31-20 lead heading into the second.
New Jersey kept it interesting in the second. After Nene hit on a jump hook 1:14 into the quarter, the Nets went on a 9-0 spurt capped by a Nachbar dunk with 8:51 to go. Denver went on an 8-0 spurt capped by a Blake trey with 2:07 left, but the Nets came right back on a 10-2 burst to close the half for a 53-52 halftime deficit.
Kidd's two straight threes capped a 10-2 Nets run down the third-quarter stretch, and the Nets led 80-76 heading into the final stanza.
New Jersey put the game away in the fourth. After Nene's dunk 1:18 into the stanza, the Nets scored the next seven points for an 87-78 lead with just under 10 minutes to play.
Smith scored nine straight Nuggets points to bring them within 91-87 with 7:28 remaining, but New Jersey reclaimed control on a 9-2 spurt down the stretch capped by a pair of Wright free throws with 1:11 on the clock.
This was the first of two meetings between the clubs this season. The Nuggets are scheduled to visit New Jersey on March 20th at Continental Airlines Arena...New Jersey has won four of its last five at Denver...The Nets have won four in a row in the series.
