NBA Game Summary - Golden State at Miami

(Saturday, December 23rd)

Final Score: Miami 105, Golden State 92

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Jason Kapono came up huge off the bench for Miami, scoring a career-high 27 points to lead the Heat to a 105-92 dismantling of the Golden State Warriors.

"My teammates did a good job of finding me," said Kapono. "I am the type of player that thinks my shot feels good 24/7, even if I miss 10 straight."

Dwyane Wade scored 18 points and dished out eight assists, while Alonzo Mourning had 14 points and six rebounds for the Heat, who have won three of their last four games.

Udonis Haslem had 13 points and 10 boards and Jason Williams finished with 10 points, nine assists and six rebounds for Miami.

Matt Barnes had 20 points, 12 boards and five assists for the Warriors, who ended a six-game road trip with a record of 2-4. Golden State suffered an even bigger loss in the third quarter, losing both Anthony Roberson (left toe) and Monta Ellis (right shoulder) to injuries.

Golden State held a surprising 24-23 lead after the opening 12 minutes before Miami started to roll in the second quarter.

With the Heat trailing 36-31, James Posey drained a three-pointer as Miami outscored Golden State 22-7 the rest of the way to take a 53-43 lead into the break.

The Heat were led by Kapono, who scored 19 points in the first half, including 15 in the second quarter.

"Jason (Kapono) is one of the best shooters in the league," said Wade. "He has one of the quickest releases in the league."

Andris Biedrins' three-point play brought the Warriors within 63-54 with 6:21 left in the third quarter before Miami put the game away with a Mourning-led 15-6 spurt. Posey's free throws with 2:01 left in the third capped the run and made it a 20-point game, 79-59.

Miami took a 81-65 lead into the final quarter and were never threatened down the stretch.

"We were all right the first quarter but we did not sustain it," said Warriors head coach Don Nelson. "We did not have anybody who played well enough to help us stay in the thing."
