Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Josh Howard had 25 points and Devean George tallied 21 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks over the Los Angeles Clippers, 115-83, at American Airlines Center.
Dirk Nowitzki, who left Dallas' game on Wednesday with an ankle injury, had 20 points and 12 boards for the Mavs, who have won six in a row. Jason Terry had 15 points and seven assists for Dallas, which opened a four-game homestand with its fourth straight triumph at home.
Corey Maggette had 19 points and Elton Brand tallied 18 for the Clippers, who have dropped six in a row.
Dallas put this game away in the second quarter. Holding a 26-22 lead after one frame, the Mavs scored the first seven points of the second to start a 15-6 run that gave Dallas a 41-28 cushion. George's three-pointer 4 1/2 minutes into the stanza capped the run.
The Clippers only drew within single digits once the rest of the way, 43-34, following two free throws by Shaun Livingston more than midway through the quarter. Dallas quickly responded and went into the break with an 18-point lead, 63-45.
Dallas continued to cruise in the third, making it a 20-point game for the first time on a Nowitzki three early in the third, 73-53. The cushion later ballooned to over 30 points, 86-55, on a Howard bucket near the four-minute mark of the frame.
The Mavs went into the fourth with a 97-59 lead and coasted to the final buzzer.
