NBA Game Summary - Charlotte at Orlando

(Saturday, November 18th)

Final Score: Orlando 97, Charlotte 83

Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Dwight Howard poured in 24 points and grabbed 21 rebounds as Orlando downed Charlotte, 97-83 at TD Waterhouse Center.

Howard finished 7-of-12 shooting and converted 10-of-13 from the charity strip for the Magic, who have won five straight.

Grant Hill scored 15 points and Darko Milicic contributed 14 off the bench in the victory.

"I think this is a real good win for us tonight," head coach Brian Hill stated. "I thought our guys came out with good focus and good energy and other than turnovers we had in the first half, I thought we really did a good job defensively."

Orlando shot 46 percent from the field.

Emeka Okafor scored a game-high 26 points on 13-of-15 shooting and Sean May added 12 for the Bobcats, who have dropped five of their last six.

"We started off slow," May said. "We are still learning and trying to put this thing together."

Adam Morrison and Raymond Felton each had 10 points in the loss.

Hidayet Turkoglu's three broke a 4-4 tie early in the first quarter as Orlando, led by Jameer Nelson's seven points and six from Howard, opened up an eight-point advantage. The Magic led 25-20 at the end of the frame.

Okafor's layup made it a three-point contest at the 8:35 mark in the second, but four points from Keyon Dooling, a Milicic hook shot and Trevor Ariza's driving layup put Orlando up by nine. Howard then drained a hook shot with 46 seconds left to give the Magic a 57-43 halftime lead.

In the third, Charlotte could only get as close as seven on a jumper by Okafor with 7 1/2 to play, but Orlando continued to pound away and held a 12-point lead entering the fourth.

The Bobcats never threatened during the final frame, trailing by double digits the entire time.

Charlotte finished 39 percent shooting from the field.
