Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Kevin Garnett finished with 28 points and 11 rebounds to guide the Minnesota Timberwolves past the Memphis Grizzlies, 116-110, at FedExForum.
Ricky Davis added 27 points and seven assists for Minnesota, which has won five of its last six contests.
Mike Miller netted 23 points and dished out seven assists for the Grizzlies, who have dropped three of four. Pau Gasol scored 20 points in the win.
The Timberwolves jumped all over the Grizzlies early, establishing an 11-2 advantage just minutes in on a Garnett fadeaway.
The road team furthered the gap as the first quarter wore on, and used a 12-4 burst to forge ahead 30-13. After the first 12 minutes of play, Minnesota led 36-19.
Bracey Wright's jumper about 2:30 into the second quarter extended the lead to 20, 46-26, and the T'Wolves held a 64-49 advantage at the break. Garnett had a team-best 14 points and eight boards at halftime, while Mike James and Davis donated 11 points apiece.
The Grizzlies got the deficit down to 91-79 after three quarters and sliced it to single digits in the closing minutes of the game, but were never able to make it all the way back.
The Timberwolves own a 7-10 road record this season...This was the first of three meetings between Minnesota and Memphis this season...Both teams shot over 51 percent from the floor.
