NBA Game Summary - Washington at Toronto

(Sunday, January 7th)

Final Score: Toronto 116, Washington 111

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Chris Bosh had 24 points and 15 rebounds, as Toronto led by as many as 22 in the game, but had to hold off a furious rally by Washington to post a 116-111 win over the Wizards.

T.J. Ford had 20 points and Anthony Parker chipped in with 16 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Raptors, who have won two straight. Joey Graham added 15 points off the bench, part of 41 points that Toronto received from its reserves.

Gilbert Arenas had just four points in the first quarter, but heated up and finished with 33 in the game. He finished 7-of-19 from the floor and hit on 17-of-21 from the free throw line.

Caron Butler had 24 points and eight rebounds, while Antawn Jamison donated 17 points and a season-high 14 boards for the Wizards, who lost for just the second time in nine games overall.

Toronto took a 20-point advantage in the fourth, as Andrea Bargnani capped a seven-point burst with a three-pointer to make it a 95-75 game with 8:43 to go.

After Toronto upped its lead to 22, the Wizards went on a tear to get back into the game, netting 11 straight points to cut their deficit to 103-92. Roger Mason keyed the burst with back-to-back treys, and Arenas capped it with two from the line with 3:53 remaining.

Bosh stopped the bleeding when he hit 1-of-2 from the line.

Washington later cut its deficit to single digits at 104-96 on a three by Butler, but Graham answered on the other end with a short jumper. Arenas then knocked down a trey, but Graham again countered with a jumper to put the Raptors ahead 108-99 with just under two minutes to go.

After a pair of free throws, Butler kept things interesting with a long jumper, pulling his squad to within 110-101 with 1:40 to play.

A three by Butler later capped six straight points for Washington to make it a 112-107 game with 20 ticks left. The Wizards, though, failed to get closer as the Raptors held on.
